Disparage Me!

These commissioners should be friends and not foes, who’s to blame, County Manager Eric Brown and Commissioner Alexis Hill.

Welcome to the latest episode of "Who Really Cares About Seniors?" starring our very own Washoe County Commission.

In this corner: Commissioner Mike Clark, actual admitted senior citizen and long-time champion of senior issues. In that corner: Commissioner Clara "Photo Op" Andriola, suddenly discovering seniors exist. Behind the curtain: Chair Alexis Hill, puppet master, and motivated to make sure Mike Clark is not reelected in 2026.

We have it on good authority, an employee in the Human Services Agency, that Hill's master plan is to pry seniors away from Clark as soon as possible, and certainly before 2026. Because nothing says "good governance" like playing political games with our elderly population in order to control an election, but Chair Hill doesn’t worry about governance.

Let's Review Andriola's Senior Advocacy Record:

  • Older Americans Month 2023: crickets

  • Older Americans Month 2024: more crickets

  • Current Strategy: Sending angry emails about Clark

Andriola's now crying foul over alleged comments Clark made at the February 5, 2025 Washoe County Senior Advisory Board Meeting - you know, that well-attended, recorded Zoom meeting with a district attorney present. (Pro tip: Check if there's video evidence before claiming someone disparaged you, and include the evidence in the email.)

Today’s email: Commissioner Mike Clark responded to Commissioner Clara Andriola and copied the press.

Here's the real kicker: Hill and Andriola seem to have forgotten one crucial detail - seniors aren't political pawns. They're actual people who can spot a fake champion from a mile away.

Hey, Chair Hill, maybe try caring about seniors instead of just using them as political chess pieces?

Stay tuned for the video footage - this promises to be more entertaining than a senior bingo night.

Oh, and we noted Commissioner Andriola claimed this was “yet again, that you are sharing negative/disparaging comments” that Commissioner Clark made about her. We asked Clark about it and he said, “I’ll send you the email, I was going to call her out but thought I’d remain above the fray, now that I received this second email, I had no option but to defend myself. I’m not going to allow seniors to be used in a game of “Get Clark.”

Commissioner Mike Clark provided the first email Commissioner Clara Andriola had sent to him in December 2024, regarding disparaging remarks she claims he made about her at senior lunches. Picon found the end of the email interesting; if we had been disparaged we sure wouldn’t be wishing anyone a “wonderful Christmas Holiday Season.”
