Why did Mike Clark call the Sheriff?

Recently we reported Bob Lucey’s out-of-the-ordinary security detail when he visited the Department 15 courtroom during a hearing regarding Mike Clark’s eligibility for candidacy. You can read about it here. On April 19th, 2022 Washoe County Commissioner Bob Lucey visited Department 15 during Clark’s hearing simply to watch, entering the courthouse through an entrance other than the one Clark used - the entrance for the general public; traversing the hallways her was flanked by three Washoe County Sheriff’s Deputies with two entering the courtroom with him. Despite a formal request for comment to Sheriff Balaam, no comment was made.

Interestingly enough, Bob Lucey wasn’t the only candidate in communication with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. On March 30th, 2022 Mike Clark contacted the WSCO to make a complaint about a threat he had received. According to his statement, Clark received a call on March 29th, 2022 at 10:40 a.m. from someone identifying themselves as the ‘commissioner from district 2…” The caller told Clark that if he didn’t withdraw from the race he would go to the district attorney’s office and file charges for lying.
