Creamed Spinach That Makes Chewed Paper Look Michelin-Starred
Oh, honey. Washoe County is doing that thing again where they think we can't do basic math or read between the lines. Let's break down this bureaucratic theater, shall we?
Picture this: Once upon a time, seniors got daily visits with their hot meals. Now? They're lucky if they get a lukewarm "here's your food, bye" drive-by. But don't worry! Commissioner Mariluz Garcia has written very important "opinions" about Washoe County Seniors in the RGJ. Slow clap
Plot twist: Commissioner Mike Clark actually gives a damn about seniors (shocking, we know), and suddenly the county's acting like he's the villain in their little drama, you'd think he was asking for caviar to be served to seniors daily.
The best part? Their grand defense is a three-page survey attempting to prove seniors are totally thrilled with TRIO Community Meals. You know, the company that won the contract by default because - wait for it - they were literally the only bidder. But shhh, that's apparently classified information they "forgot" to mention to Commissioner Clark.
And let's not forget the soap opera subplot featuring former Human Services Director Amber Howell's lawsuit. The county keeps trying to get it dismissed like a bad Tinder date, but it just won't go away. Can't wait for those depositions to drop from County Manager Eric Brown, Assistant County Manager Kate Thomas, Human Resources Director Patricia Hurley, and all those lovely underlings, some of who got promotions when Ms. Howell was removed from Washoe County’s employment. they'll be spicier than whatever TRIO's serving for lunch.
The kicker? They replaced Howell with someone more... shall we say... "agreeable." Because heaven forbid someone actually question why things are the way they are in Washoe County Government.
But hey, according to the county, TRIO pinky-promises to "try harder." Well, isn't that just heartwarming? Almost as warm as those reheated meals. Almost.
