How Dahir You?

Councilmember Kristopher Dahir's Engine 8 Urban Winery - September 12, 2024 from Facebook.

The stage is set, and the players are Councilmember Kristopher Dahir, a cast of loyal supporters (Ed Lawson and Donald Abbott), and the enigmatic lineup of the Washoe County Republican Party.

Our readers have sent us some documents and inquiries.

Councilmember Kristopher Dahir found himself at odds with the Washoe County Republican Party and the Washoe County Central Committee. The fallout was swift - on September 26, 2022, Dahir was stripped of his Republican credentials, a blow that resonated through the political landscape.

Resolution from the Washoe County Central Committee.

The Washoe County Republican Party's slate card for 2024 bore a glaring omission - Dahir's name was conspicuously absent. However, amidst the turmoil, Joe Rodriguez emerged basking in the glow of Republicans simply not supporting Dahir.

The whispers of controversy swirled around Chris Garvey, accused of being in the pocket of Robert Beadles, triggering a wave of support for Councilman Donald Abbott for the Ward 1 seat. The battle lines were drawn, with business interests coalescing behind Abbott, determined to safeguard their interests since a “Beadles People” must not be elected (according to who?).

We pondered Chris Garvey, a formidable contender who had nearly unseated Mayor Ed Lawson in the 2022 race. There was no discussion surrounding her supporters during the mayoral challenge. Questions lingered - why was Garvey not branded a "Beadles People" despite accepting contributions from Beadles and his PAC in 2022? The plot thickened, hinting at intricate webs of alliances and loyalties in 2024.

Amidst the political tumult, Kristopher Dahir's fundraiser on September 12, 2024, unfolded like a theatrical spectacle. Councilman Donald Abbott, Mayor Ed Lawson, and an unexpected presence - a "Beadles People" in Dahir's midst of the ‘non-crowd’ was Ricci Rodriguez-Elkins.

Ricci Rodriguez-Elkins, a new face in Nevada's political arena from 2022, stood by Dahir's side, sparking rumors of a close friendship and whispered opportunities declined. The intrigue deepened as speculations arose regarding Dahir's future political maneuvers and the shadow of the Republican Party looming large.

Transparency and accountability are much needed in Dahir’s race. He needs to pledge his undivided dedication to his current role, shunning the allure of higher offices. Ward 5 residents should insist on a written commitment from Dahir he will serve his full four-year term.

Delving into Rodriguez-Elkins' financial disclosures and her contributions, notably from Robert Beadles, underscoring the financial currents shaping the political landscape. Speculations swirled regarding Dahir's potential alignment with "Beadles People," hinting at machinations beneath the surface. Is Dahir trying to find his way back to the Republicans via Rodriguez-Elkins and ultimately Robert Beadles to run for higher office in 2026. Will he “will” his Ward 5 council seat to Rodriguez-Elkins?

If you stroll through the Nevada Secretary of State Contribution and Expense report filed by Rodriguz-Elkins it allows you to see without Beadles’s contributions Elkins wouldn’t have had much of a race.

Is Dahir a “Beadles People” and just keeping it on the downlow?

We noticed Rodriguez-Elkins gave a contribution to the Committee to Elect Ed Lawson in 2022 of $250.

If you look at Rodriguez-Elkins C&E from 2022 she collected $15,100 from Robert Beadles, Nicole Beadles, and the Franklin Project for her campaign that in total raised $41,034.04.  When the check was cut to Lawson in April of 2022, it might have been funded by Beadles April 14, 2022 contributions.

Mayor Ed Lawson – who often comments on Robert Beadles and those “Beadles People” who must not be elected - based on the Contribution and Expense reports, did Ed take a donation from Beadles via Rodriguez-Elkins.

We’re still chuckling.
