Dahir We Say We’re Amused
2024 has been a really weird year for politics. The races have gotten personal and petty, but hey when opponents need to go up against incumbents with buckets full of campaign contributions from developers, special interest groups, lobbyists, etc., who for their own reasons want certain individuals reelected well we guess gloves are off.
Picon noted a few of the incumbents have been less than forthright in accounting for or admitting to what has taken place over the last four years. It would seem some of them have tried to rewrite history.
Let’s take Kristopher Dahir who received a “Resolution Against Individuals” from the Central Committee of the Washoe County Republican Party condemning his actions, and no longer recognizes him as a Republican. The resolution was dated September 26, 2022.
The Sparks City Council races are nonpartisan. However, Dahir is courting the Republican vote for his reelection bid for Sparks City Council Ward 5. He is being hit with a text message campaign pointing out he is no longer looked upon as a Republican by the Washoe County Republican Party.
Personally, Picon would have readily admitted to this if we were Dahir, it might have scored him some additional nonpartisan votes, but Dahir has decided to overlook this resolution.
We were sent these two text messages calling out the sender by an individual who we think might be Mr. Dahir’s relative - we’ve removed her full first name. We have no idea who is sending these text messages they were sent to us. Dahir’s relative called out the sender, saying, “What a low-down tactic.” When did truth become low-down?
Picon finds it interesting. Kristopher Dahir received $7,500.00 in campaign contributions from 5 Ridges Development Company, Inc. who has a development in Sparks, in Dahir’s Ward 5, that has been extremely controversial. 5 Ridges Development Company is Dahir’s largest contributor, and we think accepting these contributions is wrong, or perhaps we could say “low-down.”
