Buffering at Washoe County Government

Oh, look who's fumbling the ball again. It's our old pals at Washoe County Government, the masters of the "Oopsie Daisy" defense. These folks, swimming in a pool of taxpayer cash deeper than Lake Tahoe, are still struggling with that pesky little thing called accountability.

Commissioner Mike Clark sent us these emails, he noted we had not been copied and thought we would find the “glitch” interesting.

Glitches? They've got 'em in spades. Mistakes? More common than slot machines in Reno. And don't even get Picon started on the things that just magically "get away from them." It's like watching a magician pull a never-ending handkerchief of excuses out of their hat.

Seems Washoe County Government got called out by a public commenter Paul D. White, whose statement had been clipped, yes clipped, at the Washoe County Board of County Commissioners Meeting on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

Email to Commissioner Alexis Hill, Chair Washoe County Commission.

But fear not, citizens! When caught with their hand in the cookie jar of questionable ethics, they've got a ready-made excuse faster than you can say "misappropriated funds." It's always a "glitch," a "mistake," or our personal favorite, "it just got away from us." Because apparently, running a county is as unpredictable as herding cats in a tornado.

Email from Washoe County Media and Communications Manager Bethany Drysdale.

In this case it was a response from Bethany Drysdale who was “horrified” to see the comment clipped. Her comments came after This is Reno inquired about the changed video due to being copied on an email from Mr. White. It appears to be a glitch, due to buffering.

Paul White's follow up email.

So sleep tight, Washoe County residents! Your tax dollars are hard at work funding a government that treats accountability like a game of hot potato and ethics like optional software updates. But hey, at least they're consistent in their inconsistency, right?
